Sculpture imposed itself upon me more than I truly chose it, nearly 30 years ago now… Self-taught, I first discovered stone, mainly from that of the Périgord region. Then I turned to clay, plaster, and bronze, which offered more freedom, fluidity, and finesse in the expression of movement and emotion.

Through gargoyles, I affirmed my true identity (after honing my skills on more classical nudes). I break with classical beauty to express grace and lightness, as well as to offer a satirical perspective on our society and its foibles. Art is a journey ; it evolves with our lives, or perhaps it is our lives that evolve with our art…

I became accustomed to the technical constraints of sculpture by assisting several renowned, often very demanding, sculptors, and by working for bronze foundries (developing humility and broadening my perspective on the work of others). Mastering this technique allowed me to better forget it and thus express myself with complete freedom.

“Art is nothing but feeling. But without the science of volumes, proportions, and colors, without the skill of the hand, the most vivid feeling is paralyzed. What would become of the greatest poet in a foreign land whose language he did not know?” (Cf: A. Rodin)
